The Enchantment of the Dark Princess
by Blackbird (1994-1995)

The young man yearns for autumn twilight,
having cloaked himself in the dark shadows of his past,
surviving the desecration of his heart long ago,

He searches his soul for the rite of passage to freedom,
however finds that it has perished with his resolve,
the young man discovers that he is spiritually incomplete,
and that he has no force to guide him in his Life Quest,
deciding that he is alone to determine his fate at his own mercy,

The young man matured into a gentleman,
and has finally emerged from being an instrument of his torture,
worshipping the dark princess that guided him faithfully to a new path,
she that brought him the light to his wanderings,
while his spellbinding words held substance without meaning for her,
stained honor dooming him to a timeless fate of exodus,
draining the last remnants of humanity from his spirit,

The flavors of his youth are forever remembered as dreams,
for now he is truly the necromancer of his essence,
his learned eyes are prisms through which he interprets knowledge,
yet with them he still gazes upon the heavens for a false prophecy,
only to discover that his contemplations have merely served his own
disillusionment,

The outcast submits to his uninviting existence by following with his
heart the archaic words of a forgotten hero,
that remind him of a mortality all too brief,
and offer a compassionate solace for his future,
"Legends of future past recur time and again..."

Mercy be placed upon his kind soul, my dark princess...
