RAPE THE SHADE
by Blackbird / MARTYR (1996)
Composed on Monday January 22nd, 1996

She'll insult, she'll taunt,
she destroys any love she'll ever want,
her lies cut into me like a sharp blade gone blunt,
treating me and my ignorance like a worthless runt,

She can't forgive me for my slander,
unless I understand how these feelings command her,
will our passion grow to be the senseless same next year?
I'm crying tears of change for you, my dear,

My lessons in humanity have vindictively been taught in verbal abuse,
if that is all you can ever offer me,
why should I remain with you in a commitment so obtuse?
nobody will ever hurt me again in an act of suicide beneath my wisdom tree,

I thought we had something in our natural bond so sublimely special,
but you'd rather die by your values even if it meant your love's burial,
learn that life is not lived by traditions lost by its caste in times imperial,

Our love is based on a meaningless lie,
The pleasures of your body prostitute themselves to me,
I am a failure to your ideals as you can accusingly see all too clearly,
Your anger beckons me to wish for the chance to die,

I suffer, I bleed,
because of the dominating control over me you need,
I pity your self-trauma and bid you farewell,
abandoned you not for the reasons of rage, but for your principles you fell,

( ...into knell's bottomless well you wrought in your own hell... )
