The dark side of love. Since the birth of romance, jesters and fools
have touted the light, sweet feelings associated with love, and affection.
But there is a darkness involved. It ebbs and flows to a tide of its
own.
Perhaps my vision of love, or romance, has been tainted by my vision
of life. Perhaps I'm just too confused to know. But, as the month of
February rolls around, I've seen the signs. Couples edge near and whisper
promises they can't keep to each other. Emotions run high. Or low.
Depending on where you stand.
And, so, being in... Ahem... love, myself, I feel the need to crystallise
my feelings. Romance does not have to be a bright, bold thing. Nor
should we feel inclined to make it so. Read on...

EVENING: INTRO TO SHADOWHAVEN

Midnight is the colour of Romance
Moonlight is the candle of Love
Shadows are the walls that surround us
And the light in your eyes draws me near.

FREEDOM

Day after day, I go through the grind
Doing what Ive have to, killing time
Working in this grey world of mine
Dying, slowly, wasting away.

Though sometimes, when I dare to look
This hazy waking state is shook
Your very presence frees my soul
Shows me colours never seen.

Still, I wish youd notice
Or even stop, and care
Just how much you mean to me
Caught in my pleading stare.

The times we had enjoyed alone
As the seeds of friendship we had sown
Grew to form the love we share
Strong and everlasting.

Free am I from sorrows shade
To live again, at your side
Childlike wonder felt once more
Together, we shall never die.

UNSEEN CHAINS

My lady, if you knew
Just how I felt for you
This whole charade would end
Our true love could then begin.

But uncertainty, here at last
Forces me to wear this mask
While I cry, to only know
If what I see is real.

Is this a game to you?
I must admit, you play it well
As I twist and turn in hell
The hell weve both created.

One thing I always knew
Still before these words for you
Is that I couldnt bear to see
You feel sorrow, or pain.

With every tear you cry
A part of me slowly dies
When I sleep, I never dream
For all my heart lies with you.

UNTIL THE END

The quiet words, a patient smile
A will of steel, to walk a mile
The slim chance, I need to have
Just to hear your soft voice.

Pain shared, burden light
Touching in the crisp grey night
Walking slow, hand in mine
Footsteps lost in shadow time.

Growing old, changing fast
Memories in eternal past
Chestnut hair, from shoulders, flying
On the hill, in sunshine, crying.

Raging heart, crimson hate
Deaths visit, not too late
Took you, though still I live
Remembering your soft voice.

DRIFTING

Lost in the calm waves...
I never knew this was here
Until by chance your gaze
Turned and locked with mine.

Floating in this endless sea
No more sense of time
I hope this will never end
I'll stay here forever.

I'll stay lost in your eyes forever...

Inspiration for this pre-Valentines day poetry pack comes from:

Edgar Allen Poe, Eric Van Lustbader, and the one I live for and
love, Debbie (Dee) Oliveira.

Greets go to: Blackbird, Justice, my readers (Thanks one hell of
a lot, I owe you), all the boys.

Stay well...
