Democrats still obstructing anti-war movement

August 16 2008

In recent weeks the anti-war movement has made some progress. However, at this moment some Democrats and their allies in the media have been so good as to admit to MIM that they are obstructing that progress.

At first glance, it may be difficult to understand why the Democrats would risk creating a certain impression. This is their year for winning elections big, if ever, so why would they stick their necks out to obstruct the anti-war movement, one might ask.

While it is true that Senator Lieberman may head out of the Democratic Party by endorsing McCain at the Republican convention, it does not follow that that is the last of the pro-war Democrats. Senator Bayh has received increasing attention recently; Senator Clinton voted for the Iraq War. Even more importantly, the Democrats are now adding droves of conservatives in the U.$. South, where war credentials are important.

It's the same old issue. Democrats say pro-MIMers should drop the line on the labor aristocracy. They say we should work for $10 an hour minimum wages for Amerikans to build swimming pools in Waikiki.

In the first place, we doubt very much that proletarians would be allowed in Waikiki, even if there were a pool. It sounds like a mirage.

In the second place, Amerikans do have a problem with obesity, but it is not clear to MIM that the best thing to do at the moment is to build swimming pools for Waikiki. It's not total affluenza, but it's not a slam-dunk either. Things have to be done and seen in order.

Then there are the pseudo-feminists talking to pro-MIMers about the anti-war movement. They disagree with us, because we say when it comes to the most decadent females, they believe in using persynal power toward political ends. In contrast, we hold that professional judgments have to be separate from persynal feelings. The most decadent females cannot serve as a basis for professional alliances, because there is no record for such. Females with a professional record of scientific cooperation should be accorded that role.

Again, it's a question where timing reveals the true goals of the Trotskyists in our movement. If others have good professional relations with females MIM knows to be most decadent, then those others can make deals with those females. Asking MIM to make a deal with people we trust least of all is not going to make it happen. It would be irresponsible of us--Liberal.

If the anti-war movement comes crashing down, if it boils down to the most decadent females demonstrating that there is no anti-imperialism in the united $tates, we think that is an excellent lesson to learn or demonstrate. It marks a certain kind of real equality--the ability to fuck up. Such a lesson can be learned from in the future. Murkiness on gender questions leads to nothing but vacillation.

If it came to the fact that Liberal pseudo-feminists and story-tellers cannot get their heads around dealing with other people via the female, we believe that would be a perfect lesson encapsulating the nature of the entire West. In other countries, it will not be accepted that the male is scientific, but the female can do what she wants or accuse men of sexism if she likes. MIM is happy to assist in calling out warmongering females as much as we call out warmongering males.

Events should flip the anti-war movement pretty decisively soon. MIM can be trusted for its past commitments and loyalties among those who are not newly obstructionist. We cannot be prevailed upon to do what is scientifically unsound. Nor do we believe that those who know MIM have any basis for saying we have ever wronged them to any considerable degree in our professional alliances. MIM's faults in that regard are paltry compared with what is at stake and MIM's record on service and praise to others.

All eyes are on the Democratic Party and the direction it takes. In addition to the new pro-war people in Congress, there is the question of Al Gore. MIM is not stupid enough to think that Al Gore would get up and destroy the Democratic Party this fall. People who think MIM can be misled that way underestimate our knowledge of current events. Al Gore himself is too smart. We hope our critics will think through the historical logic of the situation.

We believe there is a chance that a few Democrats will wake up and prove unable to go through with their ugly militarist plans. If things turn out OK, then this article was unnecessary. If not, then this was the turning point. Some Democrats have militarist plans and others are afraid of the specific knowledge of the anti-war movement.
