It is campaign season which means it is time for dirty tricks. MIM people have never been candidates for non-local office, not even office as high as city council.
If people are telling you that a MIM persyn IS a candidate for office, that is FALSE. The enemies of MIM wish to create that impression for their own ends. MIM is not running for office and does not qualify to be a public figure.
The major parties are afraid of MIM, because of knowledge that MIM has regarding the major parties and their alliances and overlapping with various unpopular figures.
For this reason, the major parties are campaigning to discredit MIM. This may include giving out money allegedly on MIM's behalf. However, it is a simple matter to find out that MIM has no candidate's committee and no attorneys dedicated to setting up for public office. So if someone is saying he or she is giving out money to help MIM's campaign, think again! There is no campaign! They are giving out money so that later they can say MIM was campaigning!!!
In addition, there is no chain of events that the major parties can point to that makes any political sense for MIMers to be candidates for office. They can offer speculations only and speculations are possible on anything.
People who know MIM well know that it does not have the resources and would not put the resources into hiring the attorneys necessary to run for office.
To make matters more complicated, not all speculations about MIM and office have bad intentions. Some are good. It is true that the candidates and the public must be able to consider all information when running their campaigns to make decisions for the country and such information is legally protected. People with experience campaigning and finding new candidates have a right to approach MIM, of course.
In 2004, someone approached MIM casually about running for Senate. Nothing was further from our minds, but it turns out that MIM does have some information and connection to the seat in question at that time.
Speculations, political involvement, thought, raising of issues in legal ways--these are good things. MIM has been around 25 years and its accumulation of political knowledge makes inevitable various interactions.
Nonetheless, if friends and acquaintances wrongly believe that MIM has an election campaign going on, that could be detrimental. Such people will end up being tools to discredit MIM. No trust should be given to people claiming a MIM campaign. There has always been a speculation in the air why MIM should be in electoral politics. Recently this speculation is greater than ever, because of the needs of the two major parties, not the needs of the international proletariat. We urge our friends and acquaintances not to do anything concrete to fall for the guiles of the major parties. Discussion could be good; concrete action is bad.
