The smash hit "Dark Knight" is thematic of some general discussion of how Liberalism translates its own existence in the imperialist countries living in decadence. We could quote from Lenin on decadence, but it would be better to ask how the West handles depicting itself on a downward escalator to hell.
The united $tates is a country scheduled to burn trillions in useless wars; it has the highest imprisonment rate and it ruins its own business with deportations and billions spent on commerce-choking "homeland security"-- all because Amerikans are scared and have money to burn, via affluenza. Yet, Amerika is ruled fundamentally by the ideology of Liberalism, which means a media dominated by story-tellers unable to act on an overall picture.
So when "Dark Knight" gets some of the broader social forces at work correct; nonetheless, the product is individualist. The focus is on how we know that one individual is fit to be the vigilante, Batman. Other candidates for Batman are shown only as a joke. With no systematic approach, there is no school for Batmans, nor schools for teaching how to recognize the conditions that maximize the possibilities for Batman's success. To adopt an overall approach would risk the ideological foundations of Liberal story-telling. Once one has really tasted science, one does not go back to story-telling.
From MIM's perspective, if there is a gigantic escalator to hell with hundreds of millions of people on it, yes there will be some individuals better than others, but the overall picture is still missing in Batman on how to get off the escalator or wreck it.
Liberalism has an essential problem in that for it, there is no question of how to determine that one is on a downward escalator to hell of waste and repression. For Liberalism, there is only psychology, so if one believes there is an escalator to hell, one needs therapy or to take some drugs. The question reverts to the individual as if there is no larger question of whether or not one is standing in front of an escalator with many people on it.
Previously we have reviewed "Blades of Glory." The main character of that comedy Chazz is highly flawed but also highly motivated to achieve. As in "Dark Knight," one might guess from looking at Chazz that things are not all well in society-at-large. At the same time, "Blades of Glory" does not really attempt an overall approach, but rather typifies the limits and reinforcement of Liberal thinking.
In another example, movie reviews for "Henry Poole is here" appear at the same time that "Dark Knight" is raking in the major bucks. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, "this darkly comedic film follows a depressed man, Henry Poole (Luke Wilson), who buys a house in the mediocre suburbs of Southern California."
Poole is an angry man who refuses professions of faith. The San Francisco Chronicle says, "Poole, who plans on closing his blinds and drinking himself to death for mysterious reasons, is horrified by the intrusions: Can't a man escape into the void without these pesky women? The answer here is no." A neighbor even sees a religious sign on Poole's house and apparently arguments stem from that on the nature of faith.
Here again the point in the Poole movie reviews seems to be that there cannot be a larger truth needing grasping, because there are only individuals with attitudes adjusting. This is what we call Liberal myopia. No matter how substantive the question at stake, Liberalism is going to boil it down to a lack of appropriate condoms or anti-depressant drugs.
We at MIM want to study 1000 Batmans. We want to study the millions to see who has the most potential to get off the escalator. In contrast, the imperialists study MIM, an organization so small as to prove that there is no proletariat here. Instead of looking at what MIM has said and who has responded to it, the imperialists are stuck on questions of individual psychology. They should look at MIM as a beacon instead. MIM is a marking point that shows why the united $tates might be on the downward escalator. MIM's situation is proof of why Batman is in fact the one who is isolated, that the best one can do on the downward escalator is not that good, which is why the united $tates is war-monger and repressor number one.
At the moment, sting operations and harassments against MIM from a period over a decade are coming to an end. At no time did MIM claim a persynality cult or that the united $tates is on the upswing or moving in a progressive direction. Rather we have reached a climax point in what learning can achieve. Whatever counter-terrorist or counter-espionage sparring there is to be done has been done. We await the next stage of struggle.
The Liberals need some help from outside. Though we oppose them, we have to let McCain and Obama do things their way to see what will happen--an experiment. If Obama and McCain wanted to, they could make joint campaign statements on any issue. They've lined up on offshore oil drilling and at the moment are working to fuzz the abortion question. It takes some flip-flopping, but they can get to one place, again if they want to. That's one way. There is another way as well and let it not be said MIM stands in the way of putting the downward escalator into reverse. We should let Obama and McCain have a go, but notice if they fail what it means for a certain avenue of transformation. If they fail, we have pointed out that we called for much stronger action, action they could not take because of the dismal U.$. class structure. The Amerikans like to think it is the other countries that are sclerotic and irrational, when in fact it is the united $tates doing the most to hold back global progress. Here is the U.$. chance to prove otherwise.
