Dear reader,

If you have not already read the main lawsuit page please start there.

Bear in mind as you read this that every one of these cases mentioned below is dismissed or otherwise terminated. His filings, mailings and threats continue but nothing substantive occurs in the courts. The 9th Circuit USDC has declared Mr Mitchell a vexatious litigant.

Mr Mitchell has threatened to "arrest" the judges who dismissed his cases, there were many "warrants" issued and I have only scanned those for Judge Morris England and Judge William Shubb both of the 9th Circuit USDC. I also recently received this bogus Miranda warning... can a "warrant" for me be far behind?

Mr. Mitchell sometimes personalizes his letters with colored stamps and incoherent statements. In this example he apparently says I am a liar because I did not send him the oaths of office for all the judges who dismissed the cases he filed. (?!) A second example contains a witty critique of my lawsuit web pages which you are reading now.

One of Mr. Mitchell's favorite tactics is to attempt to extort huge sums with baseless legal threats. I receive these outrageous and dunning letters every few months. This example requests a cool $2.6 billion dollars.

Mr. Mitchell is apparently something of a religious nut in addition to being a tax protestor. It is not uncommon to find a combination of religious zeal, paranoia and limitless appetite for conspiracy theory cohabiting in the mind of a tax protestor. I enclose a few religious quotations that Mr. Mitchell has blessed me with during our correspondence (is it still called correspondence when it's all going one way?). The highlighter is his. [Revelation 3:9] [Revelation 2:9] [Proverbs 12:22].

I recently learned of an exchange between an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Oregon and Mr. Mitchell. I enjoyed reading his comments so I have posted them here for you. [letter 1] [letter 2] (Heard on Quatloos.)

In the next act, Mr. Mitchell sends a subpoena to the State Bar of California, demanding oaths of office for all licensed attorneys in California from 1994 through 2003. [subpoena page 1] [subpoena page 2]. His request was not complied with, but it elicited a humorous reply from the bar. He attempted the same with the administrative office of the US Courts but I have not seen any reply.

Here are recent docket histories for the federal cases. If you want direct access to the online documents of the federal courts, you need to get a Pacer account and pay $.08 per page.

The case 03-01513 was transferred from California Superior Court in San Diego, where it was known as case GIC807057. I don't have online access to the California Superior Court filings, but I downloaded copies of the GIC807057 documents that were transmitted to the 9th Circuit to become 03-01513. There are four large PDF files of 30+ pages each: [pdf 1] [pdf 2] [pdf 3] [pdf 4]

Yours sincerely,

Paul Southworth
